On January 23, 2018, the Planning Board adopted the Preliminary Greater Cheverly Sector Plan(PGCPB No. 17-83). The Prince George's County District Council adopted CR-4-2018, approving the Greater Cheverly Sector Plan. A final version incorporating amendments made by the Planning Board in PGCPB No. 17-83, and the District Council in CR-4-2018will be published in winter of 2018.
The sector plan area covers the Town of Cheverly and the unincorporated communities of Englewood, Landover Knolls, Newton Village, Oaklyn, and Radiant Valley. The focus is on the commercial properties along MD 202 (Landover Road), the Tuxedo Road/Arbor Street area and the industrial areas near the US 50/Baltimore Washington Parkway/Kenilworth Avenue interchange. Additionally, it focuses on the Cheverly Metro Station and the Prince George’s Hospital Center property.
The sector plan has developed strategies that prioritizes improving transportation systems including pedestrian/cyclist safety and system connectivity, identifying opportunities for infill and redevelopment in the Arbor Street/Tuxedo Road area and the Prince George's Hospital site, improving environmental conditions, and preserving residential neighborhoods,
