Tours of the Mansion Montpelier Mansion is open to the public for tours, programs and shopping.
Admission$3 Adults, $2 Seniors, $1 Children ages 6-18, Children 5 & under free
Self-Guided ToursTour booklet gives history of house and Snowden family, and directs you through the house. Year around, Thursday through Tuesday, any time between 11am and 3pm. Closed Wednesdays.
Docent Guided Tours*Trained docents lead tours through the house, highlighting original Snowden artifacts, social history of 18th and 19th century Maryland, architectural details, and other information. Sundays in March through November, at noon, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm *Please note that sometimes our volunteer docents may have to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances. If there is no docent available for the Sunday guided tours, visitors can take a self-guided tour at no cost.
Docent Guided Group ToursSame as our docent lead tours, with advance reservation, for groups of 8 or more people. For reservations call 301-377-7817.

Holiday Candlelight ToursEnjoy refreshments and live holiday music by area performers, see the mansion decorated with greens and lit by candlelight. Local community groups and garden clubs decorate the rooms. No reservations required. Friday and Saturday of the first full week in December, 6 - 9pm $3/adults & seniors; $1/ages 6-18; FREE ages 5 & under
Gift Shop Hours Thursday-Tuesday, 11 am–4 pm. Closed Wednesdays. The Gift Shop is located in the mansion tour entrance. Montpelier memorabilia, tea, books including children’s books, music, unique handmade jewelry and decorative items, and old-fashioned toys are for sale.
Location/Directions
Located in Laurel, Maryland, near the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.
From the D.C. or Baltimore area, take the Baltimore-Washington Parkway (Route 295) to Route 197 (Laurel-Bowie Road). Turn west onto Route 197. Turn left onto Muirkirk Road. Turn right into Montpelier grounds.
From Route 29, turn East onto Route 198. Cross I-95 & Route 1, turn right at the next intersection onto Route 197 (Laurel-Bowie Road). Proceed to Muirkirk Road and turn right. Turn right into the Montpelier Mansion grounds.
