DESCRIPTION:Sarah Presley creates a conversation between grief and the idea of home in Silver Spark\, Lucky Star. This collection features motifs of residential architecture reminiscent of the small town Presley grew up in\, and one she often returns to in her work. Through bright colors\, family photographs and vintage papers\, Presley evokes memories of home. The etchings and collages\, however\, frequently lack subjects\, leaving them specific to no one and emphasizing the empty\, unobtainable feeling of nostalgia.

This exhibition examines self-healing and restoration\, capturing subjects with closed eyes to symbolize the moment they disengage from the outside world and focus on their “internal map”—the geometric architecture of the soul. Drawing on Pablo Picasso-inspired energy\, Lydia Peters presents personal growth as a literal structural shift\, where color becomes personality and each hue reflects a distinct emotional frequency\, from the vital greens of growth to the royal golds of transcendence. A contemporary fine artist\, Peters uses the human form to document the structural evolution of the human spirit\, offering a visual language for self-restoration and internal alignment that reveals the beauty and complexity of looking within.

DESCRIPTION:The Uhuru Quilters Guild\, based in District Heights\, Maryland\, presents Threads of Uhuru\, a collection of works unified by the spirit of “Uhuru\,” the Swahili word for freedom—expressed through creativity\, cultural identity\, and artistic excellence. While diverse in subject matter\, the quilts reflect a shared commitment to storytelling and community. Founded in 1995 with their first exhibition at Oxon Hill High School\, the Guild has spent over three decades enriching the region through exhibitions\, workshops\, and public programs\, with presentations at institutions including the Smithsonian\, the Corcoran Art Gallery\, and the National Zoo\, as well as numerous libraries\, cultural organizations\, and community events throughout Maryland and the greater D.C. area.

DESCRIPTION:The Power Rooms is an ongoing series of paintings that marks a significant evolution in the practice of Tim Davis. Shifting away from his previous focus on figures and portraits\, Davis utilizes the interior architectural space as a platform for surrealistic reimagining. By transforming walls and floors into narrative landscapes\, he creates immersive environments that invite viewers to step directly into the stories being told.  \n\n\n\nThese purposeful narratives confront the pressing issues of inequality\, discrimination\, racism\, and injustice\, intertwining them with history and culture. Davis’ work remains deeply rooted in the human experience\, specifically the Black experience as it relates to truth and identity. For Davis\, creating art for social change is a catalyst for the meaningful dialogue necessary to heal and find solutions to collective problems. Through these evocative spaces\, The Power Rooms examines the strength of a culture and the vital importance of reclaiming one’s history.
