The new game room at Huntington Community Center is a hub for video gaming fun! Community members can gather around and play the latest video games on the latest gaming consoles. The game room will host competitive, but fun, gaming e-sports competitions.

Huntington Community Center Polar Bear Flag Football League Rules

Players:

Maximum 10 players on a roster, 5 players on the field always. You can play with 4 players to avoid a forfeit. Forfeits will be scored 6-0. Only the team captain should talk to the field judges. No metal cleats allowed! All shirts must be tucked in. No belt loops, hand warmers, fanny packs or pockets on shorts, Towels cannot hang from a player but can be left on the ground. Only NCAA size footballs will be used. Your rosters must be complete before the first game of the season. No players will be added after this time. All players must be on the field for games on time. However, there is a 15-minute grace period to field for your team to avoid forfeit.

Game:

Length 50 minutes, running time 25 minutes per half, coin toss determines possession at the beginning of the game. Possession changes at the half. Whoever has the possession of the ball does not determine direction of play. The opposing team will determine direction of play. First play starts on the 7-yard line. You have 4 downs to get to midfield and 4 downs to score a touchdown. Overtime will result in a new coin toss. 15-minute overtime will be played until the first team scores. If no team has scored at the end of the overtime period, the game will result in a tie.

Scoring:

· Touchdown: 6 points

· Extra Points: 1 point from approximately 7 yards from goal line

· 2 points from approximately 15 yards from the goal line

· Safety: 2 points, and scoring teams get the ball on the 15-year line

Running: All players can run the ball. Pitches are allowed behind the line of scrimmage. No laterals over the line of scrimmage. If running back is in backfield defenders can mirror up on the line of scrimmage but cannot go over until running back touches the ball.

Receiving: All players are eligible receivers. No motion. Only one foot must be inbounded for a reception.

Dead Ball: No live fumbles. Ball is dead when it hits the ground, or when a flag is pulled, score is made, knee hits the ground, ball carrier is out of bounds, or ball carrier’s flag falls out. If player does not have a flag at the start of the play player is ineligible. If flag falls out during play as soon as the catch is made or while running the play is dead.

Interceptions: Can be returned. Except for extra points it cannot be returned.

Rushing: Straight rush from beanbag approximately 7 yards back from line of scrimmage. Immediate rush once ball is snapped. If ball is inside the 7-yard mark immediate rush will be from goal line. If rusher jumps over the 7-yard mark, they must go back before rushing.

Punting: Punts can be made by determining on 4th down if you are going to punt or not. No fake punts. No trying to block punts. When Punting, players cannot go beyond line of scrimmage until ball is kicked.

Punt Returns: Punt returns can be made if the ball hits the ground if no player has touched the ball.

Time outs: Each team is allowed two 1-minute time outs per half.

Snaps: Ball must be snapped between the legs. No direct snaps- shotgun sets only at least 3 yards back from center. Referees must be set before ball is snapped.

Blocking: No deliberate contact! Defensive players must go around offensive screen blocks. Field judges determine illegals blocks form incidental contact. Do not extend arms while blocking. Defensive players must go for flags and cannot lead players out of bounds.

Field: The field is divided into two zones of 35 yards, and two end zones of 7 yards, width of field is 25 yards.

Field Judges: Can stop the clock at their own discretion. Field Judges perform all coin tosses, keep time, score, downs, place football, determine dead balls, first downs, touch downs, and call penalties. Field judges determine incidental contact without penalties. Please respect the field judges. We are here to have fun not to argue!

Defensive Penalties:

· Offsides: 10 guards, replay down

· Interference: 10 yards, automatic first down

· Illegal contact: 10 yards, automatic first down

· Unnecessary roughness: 20 yards, automatic first down

· Sportsman-like conduct: 20 yards, automatic first down, and possible ejection from series, game, or league.

Offensive Penalties:

· Offsides: 10 yards, replay down

· Illegal forward pass: 10 yards, loss of down

· Offensive interference: 10 yards, loss of down

· Flag guarding: 10 yards, loss of down.

· Illegal blocks: determined by field judge, 10 yards, loss of down.

· Unnecessary roughness: 20 yards, loss of down

· Sportsman- like conduct: 20 yards, loss of down, and possible ejection from series, game, or series.

We highly suggest that all players have mouthpieces and suitable clothing for winter football!

Remember: this is an intramural league; have fun! Please, watch your language. We have kids watching the games and use good sportsmanship. Shake Hands!
